2020-03-30 News (And Lupita NSFW)

Well, it’s that time again. Time for some news! Also I’m including a lo-res version of the Exclusive image that just went live in today’s gallery. $15+ patrons have access to a full size, full color version, and a few variants to go along with it.

So, what have I been up to? In a nut shell, writing, writing, writing and coding.

The writing is coming along fantastic. I’ve been simultaneously developing all seven love interested. I’ll continue to do so throughout the week and then starting next Monday, begin shifting work to the artists. The goal was to build up a backlog of scenes so that the hired help can stay as busy as they’d like in the coming months. I think I’m about there.

In the meantime, when not writing, I’ve been working on a sizable patch for the current version of the game. It started out as just a sound fix for the bugging audio that currently exists in the game. But as the list of things that I wanted to fix grew, so too did the patch.

It didn’t make sense to release all these fixes as a series of small patches. So I’m bundling them up. So what all is in this patch? Well first thing’s first…

Sound Fix

As we all know by now, there have been some issues with the audio in the game. I’ve redesigned the way my game handles the audio files and sound effects and they are no implemented a lot cleaner. Fixes to individual tracks can be made in single place and maintenance of the sound will no longer be a problem going forward.

Roger’s Journal

I had the framework for the journal outlined previously, but hadn’t taken the time to go back and fill it into the script. Since I’ve been in a writing mood for a month, it seemed the perfect time. Thought the implementation has changed somewhat, it’s now ready to go. I have a few more scenes to code and it’ll be ready to roll into the patch.

Each page of the journal will now host a synopsis of not only the chapter, but will follow along with the decisions you made in the chapter. So if it’s been awhile between releases, or you just can’t remember what was happening with a character, now you can go back and recap your own story.

The journal updates as you’re playing through the scene, so to fully realize the benefits you will need to start the game over (sorry).

New Character Objects

In order to make the next few features function the way I intended I needed to redesign the way characters are stored in memory. I’ve modified the designed a bit and used class inheritance to save some space and memory where it’s not needed.

If you start a new game, it will utilize these new classes automatically. If you load an old game…well, I included about 200 lines of code to update your existing saves. Fingers crossed it works. I’ll pass it through play testing first to make sure, but my hope is that you can just pick up where you left off and the new implementation won’t cause any lapses.

It’s Anyone’s Story

In redesigning the character objects I had an opportunity to change the way the story selection menu works. Now instead of highlight and darkened pictures, you will only see pictures of characters who have story available.

But! I’ve opened this up so that now any character can potentially have chapters. Originally I was saving for just the seven main characters. But with the popularity of Lita and Lola, and a few other side character I have planned, I wanted to leave open the possibility that they too can have their own mini-arcs. The general idea of course being that with more artists and more time to write, I can expand some of the story to new characters that may possibly be upgradable to primary lover status. We’ll see what time allows, but at least we have the option now.

The Promised Character Sheet

And finally, the big one, the character sheet. As promised, when we hit $1,000 in patronage, I said I’d design a fully customization character sheet. This sheet will allow you to do a number of cool things, for ANY CHARACTER! Not just lovers. For instance, you can:

Change their Name

Currently I’m going through the entire script and making sure every character’s name is coded to work with this feature. Originally, only Roger and his lover’s had their names coded. But since this is designed to work with every character, I needed to scrub the entire script and make sure they are all coded as variables.

Change their Social Stats

You can now change their Blue and Red values manually if you are trying to achieve a specific combination of factors to unlock story paths or skip to results.

Change their Sexual Attributes

You now have the ability to change everything about a lover’s sexual attributes. From the number of times you’ve had sex, to whether or not they’re on the pill, to whether or not they’re pregnant. Just one click away from all kinds of happiness.

Change your Event History

And finally, for each character there are number of events in each chapter that may be relevant to later events. Because these choices are recorded in the character object itself, you now have the ability to alter those decisions after the fact if you want to explore or avoid specific outcomes.

Final Upgrades

And finally, a few more changes not related to the character sheet. I’ve moved the pet names into the journal itself so it appears with the relevant character. This just made more sense and also makes it easier to locate.

There is also a page now for tracking character’s relationships to each other. So if two characters appear along side one another in the game, you can quickly research what their relationships is and find links to the corresponding characters.

This will certainly be more useful later as relationships start to change and things get more complicated for dear old Roger. Story possibilities abound!

And last but not least…

Live Streaming

The plan is to resume with the live streams starting tomorrow. Sadly I will have to do this without sound, as my house is currently full of unemployed people and children out of school thanks to this god forsaken virus crap.

However, I will have the chat open, some tasty jams rocking the speakers, and some beautiful Daz work happening on the screen. There is a lot of asset prep I need to do and I’m ready to get started on Cassie’s scene.

In other words, plenty of things worth streaming.

I know March has been kind of a quiet month, but don’t mistake that for idleness. I’m working on this game constantly and as hard as ever. And with much renewed enthusiasm!

I’ll send out a shout out across all the channels when the stream is ready tomorrow, and we’ll try to make it worth your time.

As always, I thank you, and salute you!

Cheers mates!
