2020-03-22 Cassie’s Tits (NSFW Blender Edition)

Well, time for a little early payoff.

Having just completed yesterday a 13 hour course on Blender Materials and Shader Creation, I was finally ready to put some of that knowledge to use this evening.

Photorealism has always been a long term goal for this game. But thanks to Blender, I may reach that vaunted goal sooner than expected.

I searched and searched for some pre-made materials or shader setups that had that photorealism and after searching for some time, never came up with one that I was particularly happy with.

Well once I completed this course I was ready to say fuck it! Let’s just try and make my own from scratch. And I have to say, I’m super pleased with the results. I probably spent about three hours tonight tweaking color ramps and math nodes to achieve different effects.

Eventually I boiled it down to the “simple”….well, comparatively simple, node setup you see in the second image. I wanted to try and nail this set up on a large part of her body before trying to apply it to other parts.

After several test renders and adjustments, I think I’m finally happy with the net result. The next step is to save the node as a new group and start applying it to other parts of her body.

If this works as intended, maybe next week we can start putting together some new art to play and experiment with this new tool. And who knows, maybe in another update or two, we can start transitioning to the Daz/Blender pipeline in which we’ll use Daz to pose and model and then transfer to Blender for custom environments, clothing and final renders (And we can finally put an end to unwanted clipping!!!!)
